Why should I get my gas appliance serviced every year?

Safety
Reduce the risk of the appliance developing deadly leaks of carbon monoxide – a ‘silent killer’ which is a fatal colourless and odourless gas that is difficult to detect.
It is also important to install a carbon monoxide detector in close proximity to each gas appliance. This will warn you of any presence of this gas and are inexpensive to buy. Call us now and we can fit a carbon monoxide detector for only £50 or £25 if it is installed during a gas service.
Avoid costly breakdowns
Get any issues rectified at a time which is convenient to you. Don’t wait for your appliance to break down in the middle of winter when you could be faced with having no heating and hot water and an expensive emergency call out fee.
With this is mind it is a good idea to have your gas appliances serviced during the warmer months to ensure that they are in peak condition for when you will need them the most during the colder weather.
Maintain warranty
Any warranty on your gas appliance may become invalid if you do not get the appliance serviced on an annual basis by a registered gas engineer. Check the terms and conditions for further details.
Rectify issues early
Minor faults which are left untreated may turn into more expensive repairs.
Maintain optimum efficiency
During a service your appliance will be inspected, cleaned and adjusted, ensuring that it is working to full capacity and is energy efficient.
Signs that your gas appliance needs to be serviced sooner

As advised by Gas Safe, ask a Gas Safe registered engineer to service your appliance as soon as possible if you notice any of the following:
Your gas appliance is not working properly
Your appliance is burning with a lazy yellow flame instead of a crisp blue flame
You can see black marks or stains on or around your gas appliances
The pilot light keeps going out
There is increased condensation in the room
